Hard waste is lined up

CARDINIA Shire Council’s free residential hard and green waste collection is expected to help residents with a pre-winter clean-up.
Hard waste collection has already started, with many residents looking forward to it being completed.
Pakenham resident and businessman Michael Porter said he understood the need for residents to put their hard rubbish on their front lawns – it often looked terrible for the town.
“Hardwaste was collected this morning on time,” he said on Monday.
“I’m so glad because I hate the look of it if it is out for weeks and weeks.”
The hard waste collection will run until Friday 24 June and the council has advised residents to have their items neatly placed on the kerbside on the Monday of their collection week.
Residents wanting to take advantage of the hard and green waste collection must have their items placed neatly on the kerbside by 6am on the Monday of their collection week.
Zone 1 collections have been completed and all collections start at 6am.
The dates are as follows: Zone 2 collections starts Monday 30 May, Zone 3 Monday 6 June, Zone 4 Monday 13 June and Zone 5 Monday 20 June. A zone map is available from the council’s website www.cardinia.vic.gov.au.
The council is asking residents not to place items out more than a week before collection, as this causes litter and dumping problems as well as making the area look unsightly.
