It’s time for walkies

DOGS of all shapes and sizes can now mingle and exercise as one in Cardinia Shire.
A new dog walking group will be launched on Sunday 5 June and residents are invited to bring their pet along to 30-minute walk around the Lakeside Pakenham area.
After the walk, which will be led by staff from Pakenham’s The Animal Doctors, residents can enjoy a free light breakfast as well as some pet care advice.
Mayor and retired veterinarian George Blenkhorn is encouraging dog owners to take part in the event, which will be held on a monthly basis.
“It is very important for dogs to have contact with other dogs as it helps develop their socialisation skills and in some cases can reduce any aggressive tendencies,” he said.
“Also this event will enable residents with a common interest to meet and make new friendships.”
The dog walking group is a joint initiative developed by the Cardinia Shire Council, Animal Doctors at Pakenham and the Lakeside Community Development Forum.
Residents and their dogs can meet at 9am on the lake deck outside the Cardinia Cultural Centre, Lakeside Boulevard, Pakenham.
