MELBOURNE’s highway patrol can pull over just about anyone … doing anything.
Witness last Wednesday night’s return of this top-rating show, and the very opening segment.
Senior Constable Dave Winton has pulled over what policemen in my experience call a “young buck” who has been more than a little distracted by his female passenger.
I cannot say more in a family newspaper.
Anyhow, with all due respect to Sen Const Winton, I think he might be just about the worst rozzer to pull a bloke over in this circumstance.
Much sniggering and giggling ensued, but all ended well for all parties … even the young chap explaining that no, it wasn’t his girlfriend.
Might be an interesting sequel there.
It reinforces the Forrest Gump lesson of Highway Patrol: “Life is like a box of chocolates … you never know quite what you’re going to get.”
Later in the same episode, a certifiable motorcyclist is pursued at speed through city streets, and a couple of swarthy gentlemen from the sub-continent are one big moving violation.
Highway patrol … thank God they’re out there and, more importantly, on our screens.
