CARDINIA Shire Council has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability in the area of green purchasing.
At the ninth ECO-Buy awards ceremony on Friday night, the council was recognised for being environmentally friendly.
Mayor George Blenkhorn was on hand to accept the award at the ECO-Buy annual awards night.
Victorian Minister for Local Government, Jeanette Powell, presented the award to the council for Excellence in Green Purchasing, Measurement and Continuous Improvement.
The council’s leadership in the area has encouraged neighbouring councils to look into ways of tracking environmentally friendly purchases.
ECO-Buy is a not for profit organisation established to encourage environmentally preferable purchasing across governments and businesses.
Playground upgrade welcomed
