Matt scoops June medal

THE June monthly medal was won by Matt Shores with 64 nett off a handicap of 11. The C Grade winner was Mark Stewart with 65 nett (27) and the B Grade saw Wayne Knudsen come in with 67 nett to win off a handicap of 18. The scratch winner was Matt Shores.
The nearest the pin on the second hole went to Rob Collins with the fifth hole going to Chris Shields. Max Craig took out the eighth hole and the pro-pin voucher went to Paul Mannens. Bruce Wemyss was the winner of the 16th hole.
The second shot on the 6th hole saw Mark Woodbridge the winner of the 11th hole being Jason Duggan and the second shot on the 17th hole went to Noel Bonne.
The longest drive winners were Clint Walker (A Grade), Chris Shields (B Grade) and Don Towan (C Grade).
The Super Competition winners were Matt Shores, Mark Stewart and Wayne Knudsen.
The down-the-line ball winners were Wayne Caffyn 67, Alex McCrae and Ron Thoulliss 68, Travis Wheeler, Ross Stewart, Noel Bonne 69, Mark Woodbridge, Mark Hatton, Kevin McCrae, Angie Peluso 70, Rod Cameron, Peter Buff, Stan Gilbert, Robert Bumbak, Brent Greenwood, Bob Dowse all with 71 followed by those on 72 in Robert Batten, Les Gooch and Jeremy Derix.
Next week is the long weekend with a three-day event being played over the Saturday, Sunday and Monday with the best two rounds counting. The events are stableford rounds. Do not forget that bookings are required over the weekend. The following week is a par event.

The winner of the Sunday stableford competition was Peter Porter with 41 points from Luke March with 36. The down-the-line balls went to Ian Fletcher, Vjarn Priez, Matt Yusoff, and John Moore – all with 34 followed by Geoff Whiting with 32.

TWO out of three teams from the Pakenham Golf Club played in the men’s pennant grand finals at Moe last Sunday.
Mixed results were the order of the day with Division 2 coming home with the flag 6/3 and Division 3 not having a great day being defeated 7 1/2 to 1 1/2.

There was no Monday competition due to the West Gippsland Women’s Golf pennant finals being played at Pakenham.

Rod Cameron won the Wednesday stableford competition coming in with 41 points from Clive Smith and Bob Dowse with 39.
The nearest-the-pin on the second hole went to Chris Dalton and the eighth hole was won by Rod Cameron. Neil Cameron was winner of the 14th hole and 16th hole went to Michael Bainbridge.
The down-the-line balls went to Bob Laidlaw 39, George Coffey 38, Cliff Pain 37, Stan Gilbert 37, Kevin McCrae 37, Michael Bainbridge 36, Brian Seers 36, Eric Butcher 36, Brian Doherty 35, Rob Bishop 35, Frank Carnovale 35, Kevin Salau 35, Chris Dalton 35 and Trevor Knaggs 35.
The Supa competition went to Rod Cameron.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:LADIES

The June monthly medal was won by Shirley Roberts with a nett 70. Shirley also won the final round of the Silver Spoon. The Division 2 winner was Cath Briant with 76 and Division 3 went to Dawn Van Roy with 79. The putting was won by June McCardel with 29 putts.
The longest drive winners were Kay Jones, Sue Menzel and Dawn Van Roy and the nearest-the-pin went to Shirley Roberts on the second and eighth holes and Anne Donovan on the 14th hole. The down-the-line ball winners were paid to nett 80.
The ladies also farewelled June McCardel due to her moving to Donvale. All at the club wish her well for the future.
The ladies Division 4 pennant team put up a great fight in the final. They were defeated by Warragul 3/2 after a good fight with two matches going to the 19th and 20th holes.
This Thursday is Royal Women’s Hospital 4BBB qualifier.

Shanikas Please get a table together and come along on Sunday 19 June for our major fund-raising event of the year. Tickets are $40 per head for a great afternoon. Lunch is buffet selection of entrees, mains and desserts.
Progressive Raffle: This is being held in conjunction with the Shanikas@Viale Day and will be drawn during the afternoon. Please see the office and take home 10 tickets to sell to your family and friends and help your club along the way. First prize is a $1000 voucher with 10 $100 vouchers also being drawn.
Rodney Vincent night: Rodney Vincent is coming back to Pakenham Golf Club to entertain us again. The date is 30 July and tickets are $30 per head with finger food served at interval. Places are filling very quickly, so if you have not got your name down on the sheet in the office – do not complain when there are no tickets left. Rodney has been advertising his show here on his way around the Gippsland area and consequently a lot of outside bookings have already been made,
Wednesday Night Tees: Do not forget the club has Wednesday night teas available from 5.30pm to 8pm every Wednesday night at a reasonable cost. Visitors are welcome. The first Wednesday night of the month is a roast carvery and the third Wednesday is a pasta night (three other menu options are available for those who do not eat pasta). Other Wednesday nights offer an a la carte menu. Please come along and try out the menu and meet chef Ben.
