POLICE are investigating an incident that saw a Beaconsfield post box set alight.
Pakenham Senior Constable Steve Hoy is seeking witnesses to the fire in the early hours of 18 April.
“We have some great CCTV footage of the incident where we can see two girls, aged between 16 and 17, hanging around the area,” Sen Con Hoy said.
“We actually have footage of one of the girls setting fire to a piece of paper and then putting it into the post box.”
Sen Con Hoy said both girls were wearing hoodies and tracksuit pants and both had long hair, one blonde and the other dark hair.
“One girl was the instigator, but the other girl was laughing and even took a picture of it with her mobile phone,” he said.
“It is a very serious offence, especially damaging federal property.”
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
