CASEY Scorpion David Collins has been outed for a week – and both clubs fined an undisclosed amount – following an all-in melee between the Scorpions and the Werribee Tigers on Saturday.
Players came from everywhere after a heavy collision between two players from opposing sides in the last quarter.
However, Collins was the only one cited – and accepted an “offer” of one-week on the sidelines.
Brendan Fevola ran to get involved – and was challenged by a spectator, who was ejected from the ground by police.
The all-in brawl – and the reasons for it – were investigated by Victoria Police and AFL Victoria.
AFL Victoria will today (Wednesday) announce more details from the incidents at Avalon Airport Oval.
But an AFL Victoria spokesman, who on Monday watched vision from the match, said it was more “pushing and shoving and a show of strength by players”.
“Initially, the reports were of something out of control, but only one player was cited. He accepted the week.
“The clubs were sanctioned, but I cannot tell you how much they were fined.”
Berwick-based Travis Tuck was one of the best players for Werribee, which won the match by 12 points. (Turn to Footy 6 for more on the match).
