IN A Victorian first the project to install new wire-rope safety barriers down the centre of South Gippsland Highway in Kooweerup is now complete.
The $3.4 million project installed 2.6 kilometres of barrier between Beatties Road and Sybella Avenue.
“I’m proud to announce the completion of this project, the first of its kind in Victoria,” Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Edward O’Donohue said.
“The wire-rope safety barrier down the centre of the road will reduce the number and severity of head-on and run-off road crashes caused by vehicles veering on to the wrong side of the road.”
