ROC Football Club is no longer in the red.
The ROCtion they held over the weekend at the ROC social rooms raised more than $15,000 for the club, bringing them back in the black.
More than 100 items were donated for the event, including trips, memorabilia and tickets to football events.
Club president Sharon Temby said she was thrilled about the success of the auction.
“I cried once we hit $10,000. I couldn’t believe how successful it was,” she said.
“We hoped it was going to be successful, but when it all started happening, it was overwhelming.”
Their budget of $4000 was made after the first round of auctions, and more donations continued to come in on Saturday.
With no reserves on any items, everything was sold. The item that attracted the highest bid was a seven- night stay in Noosa, which went for $1000.
Most memorabilia sold for between $300 and $600 dollars.
Ms Temby said it was a great event and the end result was worth all the work.
“It was just amazing – bar sales were really good and while we asked for a gold coin donation to get in, we found notes in the tins as well,” she said.
“From the club’s perspective, we just can’t thank everybody enough for their support, the business, all the people who went out and I don’t even know who to thank from Saturday.
“All the running around was worth it. Would I do it all again? Absolutely. Knowing the end result, definitely.”
