Demons deeper in hell

It was It was

KOOWEERUP put in a sub-standard performance for the second successive week and suffered a 103-point mugging at Bunyip on Saturday.
The game had an air of inevitability about it when the Bulldogs kicked six goals to none in the first quarter.
Bulldog bits-and-pieces man Darren Blaney, who has struggled to cement a spot in the senior side this season, will be hard to displace after he kicked six goals and teamed well with tall forward Brent Hues, who steered through four of his own.
Another Bulldog who has played plenty of games in the reserves this season, Rob Davies, offered terrific drive off the half-back flank.
Ruck-rover Ben Jostlear racked up well over 30 possessions and he and Michael Whyte and Jake Buckingham were prime movers around centre field.
More often than not, when the Demons did work the ball forward, Andrew Henwood and Brad Wolfe sent it back.
For the second consecutive week it took the Demons until the last quarter before they scored their first – and only – goal.
It was put through by Matt Dunham with a good snap and well inside the last five minutes of the game. It is patently obvious the young Demons team is feeling the pinch and struggling to meet the rigours of a full season.
With little support around him, Gippsland Power star Shaun Marusic showed his talent, defenders Matt Jackman and Craig Dyker refused to throw in the towel and as usual Matt Cameron gave it his all in the ruck.
