IT was to have been the second round of the foursomes championship – with Sharon Kelly backing the stroke event and Sheila McDowell backing the nett event.
However, it ended up a nil event for the ladies at Drouin Golf Club on Tuesday, with the wet conditions forcing play to be abandoned.
It was a decision of the match committee to reduce the foursomes championship to 18 holes. Diane Sullivan and Leanne Pollard took the title with a score of 88. The runners-up were Ellyn Thomson and Irene Thomas with 94.
Sullivan and Pollard also won the handicap championship with a nett 73.5 from week one, with the runners-up being Karen Adams and Kay Feaver with 75.5.
The foursomes championships in 2012 will revert to a 27-hole event and be played over one day. There will be provision made in the golf calender to accommodate a postponement of play.
Mel Tannock finished on 36 points to win the stableford event the previous Saturday, beating Irene Thomas on a countback.
The down-the-line ball went to Shelley Buick, 34 points.
