Two in a row for Dan

DAN Cameron was the winner of Saturday’s stableford competition at the Pakenham Golf Club.
Cameron (8) was too good in A grade with 42 points. And not happy with that win, he came back on Sunday to do it again, this time with 39 points, a point in advance of junior star Sean Henderson. Balls down the line on Sunday went to 35 points.
In B Grade on Saturday, Brian Webster (14) won the day with 41 points. C Grade went to Max Craig (22) on 42 points.
The nearest the pin on the second hole went to Robert Collins, Robert Yates won the fifth hole, B. Derix the eighth and the 14th went to Brett Mottram. The 16th was won by Tony Bertolli.
The second shot on the third hole went to Mark Klaver and the sixth hole second shot to Dan Pantorno.
The longest drive winners were Jon Game (A Grade), Michael Barth (B Grade) and Noel Boyd (C Grade). Balls down the line to 36 points.
Saturday’s event will be par, with the annual foursomes championships at 11am.

Competition was stableford and Geoff Sullivan (17) was the winner with 41 points. Runner-up was Michael Davey with 39 points. Balls down the line went to 36 points and the nearest to the pins on the second hole was Dennis Stilborn, the eighth hole V. Du Preiz and 14th John Hungerford.

The winner in a three-way countback was Mal McKenna (6) +2, with Trevor Male second. Balls down the line went to -1 on a countback. The super competition winner was Hayden Bristow, with +4. Nearest the pin on the fifth hole was Male and the eighth hole went to Peter Diss.

The women have been struggling to play recently. The president and captains day on 21 July was reduced to nine holes, with president Sue Menzel and her team winning.
On 28 July, a nine-hole event saw Ann Bell win with 17 points. Down the lines went to Sue Menzel, Toni Owen and Jenny Bayard. Liz Garvey won nearest the pin.
On 4 August, the course had dried out and the 18-hole stableford winners were Irene Walker and Kay Jones.
Nearest the pins went to Cath Briant and Irene Walker.
Play last week was cancelled because of heavy rain.
