ANDREW Villinger and Stephen (Reggie) Whitehead, with a gross score of 78, were the winners of the foursomes championship at the Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
In perfect conditions, the overflow event was par.
B Grade scratch winners were Mick Boyd and Gavan Warburton and the overall nett winners were Phil Barling and Luke March.
The par competition was won by Jeremy Derix (14) with +7. Alex McCrae (31) took C Grade with +5 and A Grade went to Trevor Male (11) with +3.
The longest drives went to Villinger (A Grade), Shaun Petherick (B Grade) and Fergus O’Gallager (C Grade).
The nearest the pin winners were Robert Bumbak (second hole), Chris Shields (fifth), Alex Green (eighth), Jon Game (14th) and Wayne Caffyn (16th).
The nearest the pin second shots were won by David Nagel (third hole) and Kevin Booker (sixth).
The down the line ball winners were Doug Amos +5, David Green, Robert Batten, Don Towan +4, Gary Burgess and Rick Scott +2, while Jon Game, Shaun Petherick, Graham Huxtable, Kevin Booker, Mark Klaver, Matt Ahern and Bill Taberer all came in with +1.
Brenton Derix, Bernard Carroll, Bob Muddyman, Robin McCrae and Peter Diss came in square, followed by Noel Boyd, Robert Yates, Ray Bros, Tim Sallai and Ross Maclean, all with -1.
Saturday’s competition is stableford and the following week it’s the September monthly medal.
There was no competition for the Thursday women last week because of the conditions.
Rob Bishop won the stableford event with 38 points in the Monday competition, on a countback from Robert Edwards.
Down the line balls went to Brian Doherty and Chris Dalton 36, Geoff Sullivan, Daniel Pantorno and Robert Sandiford 35, followed by Peter Diss and Angie Peluso with 34.
Nearest the pin winners were Sullivan (second and sixth holes) and Peluso (eighth hole).
The weather was not conducive to good golf last Wednesday, but some souls competed in the stableford competition.
The winner was Peluso with 45 points from Alex Green 39, Chris Dalton, Mal McKenna and Sullivan, all with 38.
Matt Lloyd was the winner of the Sunday competition, coming in with 39 points from Gary Bennett with 36.
Down the line balls went to Damien Rhyne 35, Steve Barrett, Mark Klaver and Peter Ryan (34), Ian Fletcher 33 and David Rio 32.
* The annual general meeting has been postponed to 15 September at 7pm. Nominations for captain and secretary – and three board members – are open. They close next Wednesday. The AGM for the women is tomorrow.
