A LAWNMOWER accident has left a Maryknoll toddler with severe injuries to his arm.
The 16-month old boy was run over by the lawnmower in the yard of a Maryknoll house.
Advanced life support paramedics, intensive care paramedics and an ambulance helicopter were called to the scene at around 4pm last Wednesday.
Intensive care paramedic Phil Smith said he arrived to find the distressed child being comforted by his parents.
“The 16-month-old suffered a serious injury to his right arm and deep cuts to his legs and foot,” he said.
“We cleaned and dressed the wounds before giving the boy pain relief through an inhaler.”
“Flight paramedics then inserted a needle into the boy’s leg, giving him stronger pain relief.”
The boy was flown by air ambulance to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
