Conrad’s kiss doesn’t miss

LAST week’s performance of Kooweerup Secondary College’s Bye Bye Birdie showed the wonderful talents of all students involved.
Musical director Damien Mizzi has masterfully transformed the talented cast back to the rockin’ and rollin’ ’50s.
The play centres around singing idol Conrad Birdie who is about to be drafted into the army.
Meanwhile, his manager decides to cash in on the situation by arranging for one of Conrad’s adoring fan club members to give him “one last kiss” live on television.
The lead characters all gave polished performances and were wonderfully supported by the ensemble as they rocked, rolled, sang and screamed their way through the production.
The band never missed a note and the lighting and sound technicians did an outstanding job.
The annual musical is a much-loved tradition at the school. This year saw seven Year 12 students, who had all been involved in the past six shows, bid an emotional farewell.
By the looks of the very talented younger performers waiting in the wings, the tradition seems set to continue.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the production. Rock on! – Rosie Webster
