Gran effort by Cheryl

AFTER a few rounds of stroke golf in recent weeks, the Garfield Ladies Golf Club enjoyed the change back to stableford on Tuesday last week.
In conjunction with the stableford a new event, the Grandmothers Trophy, was held and the winner was Cheryl Lewis with 33 points.
Division winner was Vikki Templeton with 34 points on a countback. Down the lines went to Leesa Matthews and Deirdre Pilkington on 34 points. NTP were Vikki Templeton (11th and second shot 16th).
No gobblers and one birdie to Leesa Matthews on the lucky last 18th.
The club hopes Vikki, Sharon and Leesa play well in the Huntingdale Bowl this week, going for a back-to-back win.
The car park was a bit more fuller for the men’s stableford on Thursday. With 36 players in the comp, it might have something to do with the perfect weather and the course’s great condition.
Those who didn’t score over 40, were not in the running for a prize .
The winner was Greg Needham (14) with 42 from Trevor Burnie (22), Ray Jones (33) and Peter Lacey (19) all with 41.
NTPs were Les King (fourth), Peter Skinner (eighth), Trevor Burnie (ninth), Ray Johnson (11th), G. Turner (14th) and Dean O’Brien (16th). Dean also won the super 9 with 23 points.
