An awful eyeful

GRAND finals are always a colorful event, so to stand out from the crowd takes effort, innovation and a vivid imagination.
A group of players from the Bunyip Football Club combined all three at the EDFL grand final on Saturday and the results, let’s say, were eye-popping.
Dressed in red, white and blue skintight lycra suits, the group might not have been in the legendary Matt Shirvington class, but left little to the imagination. They made their way onto the ground at half-time in the reserves and did some diligent stretching exercises before providing the crowd with a memorable version of kick-to-kick.
One of the group, senior back pocket player Stewart Edwards, helped purchase the suits and as the Bulldogs kicked a last quarter goal to get within four points in the reserves grand final, he explained how.
"We bought 48 of them on the internet, we got a good discount because we bought so many, so all the boys out on the ground have got one to put on tonight,” Edwards said.
So who are these colorful characters?
“Mainly senior players and a few blokes who missed out on grand final selection. The plan is to have a few beers and hopefully celebrate a win – should be a good night, anyway,” Edwards said.
