Saturday 10 September
AFTER a combined 46 years at the club, Wayne Hassall and David Brook created history on Saturday by winning their first board event, the Winter Cup.
They defeated Wayne Johnson and Darren Sidebottom 3 and 2 in the final.
In difficult conditions the match was square early but a mid-round surge of three consecutive wins between the 8th and 10th gave them a buffer which they managed to hold onto until the end.
A-Grade player Tony Holt, who plays off 10, is in fine form at the moment and won Saturday’s par competition with a score of +3. Jeff Clowes, (19) won B-Grade on a count back with +6 and junior player Taylar Gard, (26) won C-Grade on a count back with +7.
Sunday’s competition was declared a wash out due to heavy morning rain.
