A DECISION on a new coach for Gippsland Power is not expected until late next month, according to club general manager Peter Francis.
Francis says Gippsland will start the process of selecting a new coach this week and hopes to announce a replacement for Adam Dowie before a “meet the coaches day” in early November.
Francis said he was surprised at Dowie’s decision last week to leave the club one year into a two-year contract but empathised with the departing coach.
“He is going for family reasons and I respect that,” Francis said.
“I am disappointed because I would have loved him to keep going.
“He is a good friend of mine and no doubt Adam would have been better off after a second year.
“But he is a long way from home (Warrnambool), with no family and he has four boys all under the age of six.
“I think he would have stayed if he only had one child, but as it is, the job takes up a lot of time, including personal time.”
