4CS is giving people a chance to learn how to cook by offering free cooking lessons.
The class, run by Dianne Wilson, will run every Monday for two hours from 10.30am and aims to teach people three dishes every lesson.
“We want to re-educate people and teach them how to use new fresh vegetables such as asparagus and leeks to make delicious meals,” Ms Wilson said.
“Cooking isn’t something people should be scared of and we will make lessons as hands on as possible so they can enjoy the feel and texture of them.”
Director of 4Cs Jeni Matheson said the free cooking classes were a good way for people to get into healthy and cheaper living.
“Fast food may be readily available, but it doesn’t help the expenses,” she said.
“We want to teach people to cook so they can save on living expenses.”
Classes will be for about six people and there will be a possibility of opening a second class should there be more numbers.
They are also looking into doing cooking classes for diabetics, vegetarians and those with celiac disease in the future.
