CARDINIA motorists are being warned to follow the road rules or face the consequences.
TAC funded Operation Surete is targeting drink driving, speed and distraction offences such as the use of mobile phones in an effort to reduce the road toll and road trauma in the area.
High risk roads such as the Princes Highway are a focus for police and particular attention will be paid to low speed offences.
Sergeant Frank Bodor from Pakenham police said a zero tolerance approach is being used and many drivers have already been caught.
“The operation has already achieved successful results including a suspended probationary driver caught speeding along McGregor Road,” he said.
“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility in Cardinia – you may not see us until you get caught.”
