Twilight doesn’t suck

TWILIGHT Breaking Dawn Part 1 has mostly been panned by critics, but it could not fail in the eyes of a Twilight fan.
The tone is the same as the previous movies and believe it or not the acting was actually pretty good.
The film is the first part of the final book, which sees vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) and mortal Bella (Kristen Stewart) finally tie the knot; enjoy their wedding night in the traditional sense and have a fast-paced pregnancy in which the vampire baby nearly kills Bella.
It ticks all the boxes. Stunning wedding scene: check. Dream honeymoon (with the eagerly awaited wedding night): check. Werewolf Jacob with his shirt off: check. Speedy pregnancy: check. Lots of angst and drama: check.
The perve factor was over and done with pretty quickly when Jacob, played by Taylor Lautner, got his shirt off in the first scene – at least the writer and director knew what twi-hards wanted.
As a lover of weddings, and let’s face it a fan of Twilight, the wedding was pretty much perfect in an absolutely stunning setting. Do you think Alice is available as a wedding planner?
There was even a little humour thrown into the mix and one of the funniest, yep I said funniest; scenes in the film was the speeches at the reception where most people’s slight displeasure at the romantic pairing shines through. Definitely a highlight.
That’s not to say the film was perfect.
Even for a Twilight fan like myself, there were some cringeworthy moments.
A scene of the wolf-pack talking, in distorted voices was pretty creepy and the scenes literally showing venom coursing through Bella’s veins was downright uncomfortable.
But the most important message from this film is to not see it if you have not read the books or seen the previous movies!
There is no explanation of some critical points and it would leave the unacquainted very confused.
