CARDINIA Shire is the third worst municipality for driving offences in the state following a number of recent police operations on Victorian roads.
In the past 10 days, the Southern Metro Region has racked up the highest number of traffic offences in Victoria, with the Cardinia Police Service Area (PSA) coming in behind the cities of Whitehorse and Melbourne as one of the worst municipalities.
Senior Sergeant Graham Higginbotham said the offences were mostly related to speed, but included all kinds of bad driving behaviour.
Since Friday 18 November police had caught 12 drink-drivers and a further 456 drivers for other offences on Cardinia Shire’s roads.
Sen Sgt Higginbotham said the results were disappointing, but not surprising.
“Drivers on the Princes Freeway and throughout the Hills continue to speed,” Sen Sgt Higginbotham said.
“Unfortunately we’re finding ourselves detecting more offences than most of the state.”
