R. RADFORD and Sons abattoir in Warragul has won the NAB Agribusiness Leader of the Year Award as well as the Environment and Energy Management Award.
Under Robert Radford’s stewardship, Radfords has continually grown and expanded, reflecting his confidence in and commitment to the business, the industry and the Gippsland region.
Over the past decade operations have more than doubled with Radfords now processing some 80,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep and lambs per year.
Since the implementation of an Environment Improvement Plan in late 2005, Radfords has reduced the consumption of electricity by 4.17 per cent, gas by 30.5 per cent, motor fuel by 19.2 per cent and water by 44.5 per cent.
Radfords’ water treatment system has attracted the interest of the broader food industry.
