TWO new sealed roads in Bunyip will greatly benefit residents in the vicinity.
Works on Mary and George streets were completed this month under the Special Charge Scheme, where Cardinia Shire Council and affected property owners shared the cost.
About 240m of Mary Street and 160m of George Street was sealed and pavement and drains were constructed.
Bunyip Ward councillor Graeme Moore said the works had dramatically improved access to and from the properties.
“Thank you to all the affected residents for being so patient,” he said.
“Unfortunately, the project took a bit longer than expected to complete, due to the discovery of more rock sediment during the construction period.
“Both streets were previously not safe, and there were serious drainage issues. Less dust in summer and mud in winter, reduced erosion, easier nature strip maintenance and improved access, what a great outcome for everyone.”
