Cold feet on film

AFTER the success of the first Happy Feet movie, many expected the sequel to be just as good. How wrong we were.
Coupled with a New Year’s Eve hangover, as well as a hyperactive two-year-old hyped up on frozen coke and the excitement of popcorn – it probably was a bad idea from the start.
But aside from all that – Happy Feet 2 is the worst movie of 2012. Hands down – don’t worry about your feet.
Where to start? Mumble and Gloria (for those who have seen the first movie) now have a little penguin of their own named Erik, who like his dad can’t sing – but also struggles to dance, something Mumble proved to be very good at.
He then meets a penguin who can fly and does his best to follow his beliefs, causing an array of problems for his friends and family. The graphics are cool, like the antarctic, but the story leaves a lot to be desired.
Tragically the original voice of Gloria (Brittany Murphy) had to be replaced by husky singer Pink after Murphy passed away following the first film’s release. But Pink’s star-power along with other returning stars could not save this film.
The two-year-old loved it, but she could have barely understood the underlying message that humans are helping wildlife in the antarctic. -Melissa Meehan
