Fast fairways slow play

THE Garfield Golf Club played host to a Stableford event on Australia Day with 67 players facing the starter’s gun. Play was very slow due to a high number of social groups enjoying the public holiday.
While the field was heavy the course played short with many players impressed with the extra distance gained on the fast running fairways.
Five players enjoyed scores in the 40s with Ray Jones taking home the spoils with a score of 42 points on a count back from John Blair. Paul Kaye, Graeme Pretty and Chris Bowers followed close behind on 40 points.
Balls down the line went to Geoffrey Roberts and Robert Young on 39 points, Brian Tindall, Michael Neylen and Brad Richmond (Traf) on 38 points with Shane Tyler and John Sanderson both having 37 points.
Nearest the pins went to P.Skinner (4th), F.Air (8th and 9th), M.Hirt (11th), A.McKillop (14th) and J.Sanderson on the 16th. We would like to apologise to anyone that missed out on a game as the course was fully booked, to avoid disappointment on public holidays it’s always a good idea to pre-book so everyone enjoys their day.
