Planning your Valentine’s Day?

Spoil someone you love this Valentine's Day.Spoil someone you love this Valentine’s Day.

THE international day of romance, Valentine’s Day, 14 February, is a great reason to spoil your someone special.
The annual day of love is the one day of the year to really let your partner know you care, but what can you do that hasn’t been done before?
How about starting the day off on the right foot with a romantic breakfast in bed… cook your partner’s favourite treats, or try something traditional, such as bacon and eggs and French toast. After all, it’s the thought that counts!
Send a secret love an SMS text message or an e-card, which can be sent anonymously ready made or design one yourself.
If your love isn’t such a secret, call, SMS or email throughout the day with words of love and desire.
Create an ambience-exuding romance. Fill the room with flowers and candlelight, burn essential oils (ylang ylang and sandalwood are said to have seductive properties) and put on some slow, soothing music.
The power of food to increase your appetite for love has been known for centuries.
It has been said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and likewise, a home cooked meal by a man for his lady is a rare treat that is sure to earn extra brownie points.
Create your own ‘carpet picnic’ at home by feeding one another love foods such as fish, avocado, oysters, figs, vanilla, chocolate, liquorice, honey, coffee or wine.
If your Valentine loves to go out, get dressed up and make it somewhere unique and special.
Love coupons are an inexpensive gift that is always appreciated, and can be used for months after. A number of commercial booklets can be found at bookshops, or get creative and make your own redeemable coupons.
Some ideas could be breakfast in bed, massage, massage prince or princess for a day or a candle-lit dinner.
If your budget doesn’t accommodate diamonds, less can certainly be more when it’s straight from the heart.
Buy some small sentimental gifts and create a hamper, make a scrapbook of photos, or write Valentine messages such as a love letter, poetry or even song words and hide them where they’ll be sure to surprise. Attached to the bathroom mirror, in the fridge, a clothes drawer, the car windshield or even under a pillow.
Flowers speak the language of love and can often say more than words.
Traditionally red roses signify passion and pink roses represent happiness. Red tulips represent love while yellow sunflowers let the recipient know they are adored.
Chocolate is always a good accessory to flowers, and actually contains large amounts of phenylethylamine, a chemical that is also produced by the body when one has feelings of love.
So what are you waiting for? Start planning your special day and make this year’s Valentine’s Day a memorable celebration of love, desire and romance.
