IT wasn’t just the professionals who played great golf in the Pakenham Pro-Am on Friday with the amateurs also coming in with great scores.
Matt Ahern wasn’t fazed by playing with the pros and fired 41 points to take out the A Grade prize with K.Gaygill winning B Grade with 43 points. Runners-up were C.McConnell with 40 points in A Grade and J.Leontini with 38 in B Grade. Shirley Roberts won the ladies prize with 41 points.
The winning team for the day was D.Morrison, P.Bebee, S.King and S.Henderson with 96 while nearest the pins went to J.Houghton (2nd), K.McCraie (8th), D.Falcone (14th) and B.Edwards on the 16th.

After the buzz of Friday’s Pro-Am it was a much quieter day at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday but that didn’t stop junior golfer Corey Porter from smashing his handicap to smithereens.
Porter (32) came in with a whopping 49 points to take out C Grade and the best score of the day. A Grade winner Chris Shields (12) won on a count-back with 40 points while Wayne Lamers (20) also had an exceptional day out carding 45 points to win B Grade. Balls down the line went to 37 points.
Nearest the pins went to Chris Wheeler (2nd), Tom Cassidy (5th), Gary Wilkinson (8th), Peter Lazarus (14th) and Craig Southern on the 16th. Closest second shots went to Rob Bumbak (3rd) and Rob Christie on the sixth. Longest Drive winners were A Grade Beau Wheeler, B Grade Peter Porter and C Grade Davis Shannon. The ladies winner was Kerrie Davey.
Next weeks competition is the Cardinia Lakes Four-Ball Tournament. Tee-off begins at 11.00am and huge prizes are up for grabs, entry is $40 per pair.

The Monday competition winner was Ashley Graham (17) with 43 points from runner-up Arthur Sellars with 37 points. Balls down the line went to 34 points on a count-back and the nearest to the pins went to Ron Winsall (2nd) and John Roberts on the eighth.

A slight change to his swing saw popular member Brian Bateup (13) have the round of his life on Wednesday shooting a one-under-par 70 off the stick for 50 Stableford points and a runaway victory. Bateup sunk a bomb on his last hole, the par five ninth, to make it three birdies in four holes to top off a fantastic day.
Shirley Roberts was runner-up with 45 points and Al Campbell third with 43 points while balls down the line went to 36 points on a count-back. Nearest the pins went to Ron Winsall (5th), Bert Burniston (8th), Trevor Male (14th) and Bill Taberer on the 16th. The Super-comp winner was Tony Vallance and nearest the pin was Damien Rhyne but Bateup was the star of the show.

The twilight competition winner was Corey Porter 26 points from runner-up Jenny Bayard with 25 points. Balls down the line went to 20 points on a count-back and the social winner was Tony Shennan while the raffle winner was M.Nati.

The club holds a nine-hole twilight event every Wednesday that will go through until the end of daylight savings. Tee-times start at 3.00pm and members and guests are both welcome.
Follow the golf with dinner at the club from 5.30pm to 8.00pm. Members and guests are all invited to try out the new menu at a reasonable cost. The first week of the month is a roast carvery and all other weeks are an a la carte menu.

The Sunday competition was won by Steve Barrett (13) with 41 points from Matt Yusoff (11) with 38 points while balls down the line went to 35 points.
@BT Sub Sport Gaz:LADIES
Another fine day greeted the ladies last Thursday for the second round of the Summer Cup. The front nine winner was Dawn Van Roy with a 31 nett followed by Marg Jackson on 33, Norah Gascard 34, and Joan Rawson and Helen Aurish on 34.5. The putting winner was Val Carroll with 13 on a count-back.
On the back nine Adele Mahony was the winner with a nett 35 from Marg Andrews on 36.5, and Yvonne Barrot and Sue King on 37. The putting winner was Marg Blake with 13 on a count back and the nearest the pin went to Yvonne Barrot.
The progressive total sees Dawn Van Roy in the lead on 66 followed by Marg Blake 70 and Joan Young and Muriel Mills on 72.
