Marsh lands in contention

HALF way through round 13 and there’s still no clear favourite in any of the three divisions for the inaugural Pakenham Gazette Cricketer of the Year Award.
This new award is an initiative by the Gazette to recognise the best cricketers in the region and the winners of all three senior divisions will win a framed colour montage trophy of their season with the winner in Premier division also receiving a voucher from SportsPower Pakenham.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:PREMIER

It’s down to four winning chances in Premier Division with a Cox Plate quality field fighting to the bitter end. Cardinia have completed their round 13 fixture and although no votes will be added until all teams have completed the round it’s fair to say Neil Barfuss has bridged the gap on outright leader Callum O’Hare.
O’Hare gets his chance with the ball this week while Chris O’Hara’s 81 wont secure three votes but should keep his tally ticking over. Chris Smith also gets his chance to shine with the willow this week.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:PREMIER LEADERS

16 – Callum O’Hare (Tooradin)
15 – Chris Smith (PUT)
14 – Chris O’Hara (Kooweerup)
13 – Neil Barfuss (Cardinia)
11 – Dwayne Doig (Cardinia)
11 – Michael Giles (Kooweerup)

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:DISTRICT

It was all Marsh-land around the District Division this week. Clint Marsh dominated for Emerald, snaring 7/28 to devastate the Catani batting card. It will take a lot to look past Marsh for the three votes, but chances are James McMahon might feature in the votes for his gutsy 83.
Depending on how hard he cashes in, Jason Holman could feature in his second maximum vote game when he resumes this week on 84 not out. The Panthers will go hunting quick runs this week so Holman might grab a quick century and a few dismissals behind the stumps to cap off the match.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:DISTRICT LEADERS

15 – Jess Mathers (Merinda Park)
14 – Peter Zauner (Devon Meadows)
11 – Clint Marsh (Emerald)
10 – Sam Vanderzalm (NNG-Maryknoll)
10 – Chris Lewis (NNG-Maryknoll)

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:SUB-DISTRICT

Adrian Buller… if only we could give you nine votes. Buller thoroughly destroyed Gembrook, taking 9/32 and then grabbed another in the second innings to finish the day with the big 10. Brad Goodman’s scintillating 82 could steer him into the double-vote territory, but only time will tell.
It’s great to see former competition leader Bodie Brown back in the whites for Lang Lang and his 4/40 against Nar Nar Goon-Maryknoll could help him push back onto equal footing with Lee Murdoch.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:SUB-DISTRICT LEADERS

13 – Lee Murdoch (Cranbourne Meadows)
12 – Bodie Brown (Lang Lang)
12 – Dean Williams (Clyde)
10 – Ash Bailey (NNG-Maryknoll)
9 – Brent Murdoch (Cran Meadows)
