Cars shine at classic show

IT WAS like a scene from a 1950s American movie at the Gembrook Sports Ground on the weekend with more than 500 vintage cars on display.
The Rotary Club of Emerald and Districts alongside the Thunderbirds Rod and Custom Club hosted the 19th All American Car Display and Swap Meet on Sunday 19 February.
There was a range of cars from classic, vintage and veteran cars as well as hot rods, customs, pick ups and station wagons too.
Children’s rides and activities were also popular.
Rotarian Don Borg organised the event and said there were more than 500 cars.
“We had about 2500 people wandering around,” he said.
“It was definitely one of the better ones.”
The weather held out for the event too.
“It started to drizzle in the afternoon and we thought ‘here we go’. But then it cleared up for a nice, beautiful and sunny afternoon.”
