SUPPLY at VLE Pakenham returned to higher levels and most of the yarding was of good to very good quality.
All of the current regular buyers were present and all seeking numbers.
There were better quality prices for young cattle which were two cents to five cents dearer but most of the grown cattle were seven cents to 12 cents per kilogram dearer.
A very good quality penning of 560 vealers sold very well, and this saw a lot more make from 225 cents to 249 cents per kilogram.
A lot of these were medium to heavy weight vealers, some weighing 430 kilograms liveweight.
Most others sold from 185 cents to 225 cents per kilogram with feedlots and restockers making several purchases.
Of the 780 yearlings penned, a good percentage were of medium to heavy weight steers and heifers.
Steers sold from 188 cents to 210 cents for most with supplementary fed yearlings to 235 cents per kilogram for a pen lot.
Strong trade and supermarket competition saw most heifers sell between 176 cents and 210 cents and supplementary fed made to 228 cents per kilogram.
Approximately 500 grown cattle were penned and most were grown steers and bullocks.
The steers mouthed zero to two teeth sold to 200 cents, while grown steers and bullocks made between 185 cents and 196 cents per kilogram.
Manufacturing steers were mostly heavy bullocks that sold from 162 cents to 183 cents per kilogram.
