A LACK of parking has long been an issue for shoppers in Berwick Village, but one local motorist took her quest for a prime spot to the extreme on Monday morning.
The 78-year-old female driver from Berwick escaped serious injury and was taken to Dandenong Hospital by ambulance in a stable condition, an Ambulance Victoria spokesman said.
Sergeant Robert Madeley from Narre Warren Police Station said the car became wedged between the front of three other cars and the brick wall of Ritchies IGA supermarket just before 11am.
Sgt Madeley said it appeared the driver had accidentally accelerated forward when she had meant to reverse, but this was yet to be confirmed.
The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle and there were no occupants in the three parked cars. The scene was cleared just after 1pm.
