A MOTORCYCLE club has successfully applied to set up a meeting place in Pakenham, under the moniker “Two Wheeled Antiques and Treasures Club Inc.”
IT is believed to be the new home of the Pakenham chapter of The Outlaws Motorcycle Club, previously based in Bald Hill Road.
The site is one of 12 self-storage units at Sharnet Circuit, located within an industrial estate. A ‘no trespassing’ sign at the front of the premises bears the Outlaws’ motto, ‘GFOD’ (God Forgives, Outlaws Don’t).
The proposal was passed unanimously at Monday night’s council meeting, and no objections to the proposal were received.
The report stated the applicant wanted to use the site “as a place of assembly to host gatherings and meetings of a private club (motorcycle club)”.
“The place of assembly will be used as a private club that will utilise the space for regular meetings which are to be conducted outside of normal business hours.”
The clubhouse will be frequented by up to 20 members but the number will swell to up to 50 members from affiliated clubs for “infrequent” gatherings.
Renovations to the inside will include a cafeteria area with a view to obtaining a liquor licence for the service of alcohol.
The report stated that although police had no objection to the proposal, they suggested a note be placed on the permit prohibiting the storage of liquor on the premises until a licence was obtained.
Council approved the proposal under conditions including the number of people on the premises being not more than 10 during business hours or more than 50 between 5pm and 10.30pm. The club cannot operate after 10.30pm.
