A NEW partnership will save the lives of pets around Victoria.
Pakenham Produce and Saddlery has recently thrown its support behind the Melbourne Pet Ambulance, Rescue and Rehab, a pet rescue service owned and run by veterinary nurse Julie Flint.
Jodie Straub from Pakenham Produce and Saddlery said it was an exciting partnership.
“The union about us helping Julie help animals,” Ms Straub said.
“It will be exciting over the next year to see how many more animals she can help.”
Ms Flint runs the pet ambulance 24 hours a day transporting injured pets to a vet and also rescues and cares for injured, orphaned or dumped puppies, dogs, kittens and cats.
She has rescued and cared for 80 dogs in the last seven months.
Ms Flint said she was blown away by the support shown by Pakenham Produce and Saddlery.
“To have Pakenham Produce on board as a major supporter who is helping contribute to food, cleaning, worming and treatment takes a huge financial burden off me,” she said.
“It allows me to concentrate on the saving and rescuing rather than worrying about whether I can afford it. I am very lucky that Pakenham Produce chose me.”
The Pakenham business has been looking for a suitable rescue group to support for some time.
“There are so many out there and for a very long time we were looking,” she said.
“We came across Melbourne Pet Ambulance and saw a great opportunity to help her grow her business and help the animals. She is a one man band so us helping her gives her the opportunity to help a lot more animals.”
The Pakenham store will now provide a platform for others to get behind Ms Flint and her business by helping people donate.
“Every cent donated in Pakenham Produce is donated to Melbourne Pet Ambulance to Melbourne Pet Ambulance to use for the animals,” Ms Straub said.
“We also have a network of suppliers, many of which are willing to come on board to donate products.”
The staff at Pakenham Produce and Saddlery are excited to be able to help Melbourne Pet Ambulance.
