Missing signs

LOVED the “thumbs up, thumbs down” section in the Gazette this week.
Growing up as a child in Shepparton, we had the same thing in our local Shepparton News and I’d often wondered why other editorials hasn’t adopted it, as a quick community poll reference tool.
Having said that, I was however a little confused about the direction of the thumb in relation to the “hoons in Pakenham every night”. Does this mean the copywriter didn’t agree or just merely a misdirection in orientation?
Also, to the person who wrote in about no speed signs on Henry Road.
Ironically a car doing burnouts several weeks ago, struck and damaged a speed sign down Henry Road, which was subsequently removed but never replaced (assumably by our lovely council) which did a similar thing when asked to repair directional arrows at the roundabout of Sandalwood and Clifford Drives in Pakenham.
Oh well, I guess it’s easier to pull up in a council vehicle, throw the damaged signs in the back and drive away, rather than repairing or replacing them… and probably cheaper too!
Just another footnote regarding the Henry Road situation in Pakenham.
Has anyone else noticed that whenever there is a bus dropping off or picking up at the bus stop near the Coles loading dock or the next bus stop down Henry Road after Bluehills Boulevard, the road markings in that area indicate that you cannot pass the stationary bus without breaking the law.
A combination of poorly placed solid lines and painted island road markings, technically make it illegal for drivers to do so… not that anyone bothers to notice.
David Connor,
Pakenham.
