On the level

Labor’s Project 10,000 will remove the Clyde Road level crossing in Berwick as part of our plan to remove 50 of Melbourne’s worst level crossings.
This will benefit local residents, motorists and businesses long into the future, making Clyde Rd easier to travel on, reducing congestion and making the road safer for thousands of motorists and pedestrians every day.
It is sad to see local Liberal MP Brad Battin and former president of the Berwick Village Chamber of Commerce Harry Hutchison arguing against this plan and arguing against increased roads funding for the local area.
They appear to be happy with the lack of funding the current State Liberal Government has provided for roads across Casey. On average, only $4.5 million per year has been provided for new roads projects.
To compare, Labor’s record is very strong on local roads funding. A yearly average of $45 million was spent on roads across Casey under the previous Labor Government.
When it comes to local infrastructure investment, only Labor will deliver.
Luke Donnellan MP,
Shadow Minister for Roads, Road Safety and the TAC.
