It’s just not on

AS A serving councillor and former mayor I am appalled and wish to make known the behaviour of a small, select number of people in the Emerald-Ranges Ward who have chosen to abuse and put to question Cardinia Shire staff’s integrity and councillors representation verbally, in emails, and on Facebook.
So much so that legal consideration is being given to their current conduct and abusive dialogue, both written and spoken that amounts to abusive bullying in the workplace.
The staff work diligently, professionally and adhere to the process and policy laid down by the council. The councillors debate issues vigorously and question outcomes rigorously to achieve a balanced fair and reasonable positive community delivery for all residents! Councillors should never be held to ransom by a small vocal minority when the process of good governance, meetings and dialogue has been followed in a transparent manner.
Not all decisions suit expectations but that is no reason for abusive behaviour. It should not be tolerated in the home, the workplace or in local government.
Councillor Kate Lempriere,
Central Ward councillor,
Shire of Cardinia.
