Premier’s pleasure

IT WAS a pleasure to join Premier Dr Denis Napthine and Minister for Education Martin Dixon at the official opening of the Officer Specialist School last Wednesday.
The school is a credit to the dedicated families behind the Supporters for a Specialist School for Casey-Cardinia (SS4CC) led by Cathy Smith, and the broader community.
The Coalition responded to a demonstrated community need and strong leadership from the SS4CC, by promising to build a specialist school in theCasey-Cardinia growth corridor in its first term of government.
The Coalition is proud to have delivered on that promise. The growth corridor is now home to a $15 million state-of-the-art specialist school that breaks the mould in its design and size.
Principal Sue Campbell, together with the school council led by chairperson Paul Stephens, have done an excellent job of guiding the school through its development and opening stages.
It was wonderful to see the joy and sense of community demonstrated by the many students, families, teachers and staff members at the opening of their new school.
Officer Specialist School, coupled with the new Officer Secondary College which is under construction, will see education placed at the heart of Officer and central to the town’s growth.
