THE article on the damage to the Upper Beaconsfield commemorative memorial (Gazette, 25 March) tells us a lot about Cardinia Council.
Firstly there is no response to the concerned ratepayer who wants action.
Secondly council’s parks coordinator has become a traffic expert and deemed a wall that has been in place for 96 years to be a traffic hazard.
Finally, the damage has been assessed by a council engineer.
As city engineer for three major municipalities in Australia and now retired,I would have sent out a bricklayer and had it put back in place before morning tea.
Peter Hanning,
Upper Beaconsfield.
