Take time for dry off

DRYING off and transitional feeding will be discussed at a seminar in Drouin hosted by the Young Dairy Development Program.
Leading experts Luke Morrison from Zoetis and Ridleys’ David Huggins will lead a discusion that will help farmers understand this period.
“The dry period is the most important phase of a dairy cow’s lactation cycle,” YDDP Gippsland co-ordinator Irene Baker said.
“This session will highlight the important factors that affect the cow during the dry period and how you can best manage your cows from dry off right through to three weeks post-calving.
“The importance of dry cow and teat seal will also be discussed, so come along if this is an area you need to improve your knowledge of.”
YDDP will subsidies a two course meal at just $14, with the event to be held at the Drouin Hotel on Tuesday 19 May from 7pm.
Book with Irene Baker by 15 May by emailing her at irene@gippsdairy.com.au or by phone on 0428 889 337.
