Processor demand falls off

With the extra numbers yarded across saleyards and the end of year break looming, processors are holding numbers and are reluctant to take too many head.
This eased prices for the fat sale last week and with an extra 140 head penned the yard average this week slipped 19 cents to 258.9 cents.
Ninety-four 94 bullocks made to 278 cents, back 22 cents, and averaged 249.2 cents, back 31. 81 cents.
Heifers made to 270 cents, back 15 cents, and averaged 225.8 cents, back 38 cents.
One hundred and eight steers made to 282 cents, back eight cents, and averaged 252 cents, back 17 cents.
Five hundred and forty six veal made to 318.6 cents, back 11 cents, and averaged 270.2 cents, back 11 cents.
Thursday’s bull and cow sale followed on from Wednesday’s trend easing across both bull and cow pens with 56 bulls topped at 285.2 cents, back 27 cents, to average 241.7 cents, back 30 cents.
There were 576 cows yarded which made to 253.2 cents, back 14 cents on the previous week and the cow average was 199.6 cents, back 13 cents.
Bullock numbers were back with 24 penned and they made to 244.6 cents, to average 229.3 cents, back 13 cents also.
The yard average was back 15 cents to 205.5 cents.
The last sales for 2015 are on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 December.
