Shooting range realised

THUNDEROUS applause followed Cardinia Shire Council’s decision to approve a permit for a shooting range at tonight’s town planning meeting.
Applicant Chris Moore and Member for Eastern Victoria Jeff Bourman were among a packed gallery who witnessed councillors unanimously pass the recommendation.
The permit allows for a shooting range to be developed at Lot 15, Industrial Drive, Pakenham.
Several councillors, including Cr Kate Lempriere, expressed their support for the location of the range.
“It all comes down to location, location, location,” she said.
“It is a sport – I recgnise that. I recognise that people who partake in this sport are respectful, law-abiding citizens.
“Obviously in the past I have indicated that I am nervous about guns, but I’m nervous about guns in certain locations.
“This location is fine to me.”
