Long weekend market shrinks

THERE were approximately 160 cows and eight bulls penned representing a decrease of 200 head week-on-week at The Victorian Livestock Exchange on Tuesday.
The usual buying group was present and competing with a small new order in a dearer market.
Quality was mixed in the small offering with most weights and grades represented in limited numbers. Competition was strong for all grades, especially for dairy cows at all weights.
Heavy weight beef cows lifted five cents to 10 cents while dairy cows jumped 20 cents to 30 cents with carcass prices for medium weight cows almost as high as heavy weights.
A handful of heavy weight bulls sold firm.
Most light and medium weight cows sold from 183 cents to 254 cents.
Heavy weight cows made mostly between 230 cents and 274 cents.
Heavy weight bulls sold between 263 cents and 289 cents.
The next Store Sale is Thursday 16 June at 10am.
The VLE Draw for the week commencing Monday 20 June is: 1, SEJ; 2, Rodwells; 3, Everitt, Seeley and Bennetts; 4, Nathan Gibbon Livestock; 5, Landmark; 6, Elders; 7, Alex Scott and Staff.
