Market down but demand increases

Twenty fewer cattle came to last week’s Baw Baw Livestock Exchange’s Wednesday fat cattle sale than the previous week.
Again there were some very good vealers sold to top at 385 cents.
Demand was stronger and steers saw more interest with some top class cattle coming forward.
The week’s yard average was 308.5 cents.
Ten heifers made to 332 cents firm and averaged 294 cents, 44 steers made to 347.6 cents firm and averaged 284 cents and 221 veal made to 385 cents firm and averaged 320.1 cents.
With the yarding of 200 more cows than the previous week, the cows sold about the same with some lighter Friesian heifers. The yard average was down eight cents.
The week’s bull market saw 36 bulls sold at a top of 269.2 cents, down five cents, with more dairy bulls sold.
Cows reached a top of 276.6 cents which was down two cents.
