Yard gets a boost with demand

Even though the yarding on Wednesday last week was lighter in numbers, the continued demand for quality stock lifted prices in all categories, giving the yard average a boost of 9 cents to 319.9 cents.
Bullock numbers were missing but the few yarded sold to strong demand.
Heifer numbers were steady and some lighter pens affected the average slightly, but the better pens saw the top price lift 3 cents, a few less steers saw the best lift in demand and prices with a big jump in the average, vealer numbers were back but demand lifted the average 11 cents.
Seven bullocks topped at 330 cents, up 24 cents and averaged 303.1 cents, up 18 cents, 48 heifers topped at 345 cents, up 3 cents, and averaged 265.5 cents, back 4 cents, 27 steers topped at 330 cents, up 10 cents, and averaged 311.6 cents, up 26 cents, 196 veal topped at 387.2 cents, up 5 cents, and averaged 344.1 cents, up 11 cents.
A larger yarding of 541 head greeted buyers on Thursday, and the result was a gain of 8 cents for the yard average to 218.3 cents, with demand remaining firm to strong, 25 bulls made to 307.6 cents, up 33 cents, and the average was 13 cents better at 251.5 cents.
Twenty-five bullocks topped at 301.6 cents, up 21 cents, and averaged 260 cents, up 8 cents, and 490 cows topped at 309.6 cents, up 35 cents, and averaged 6 cents up at 214.1 cents.
