Vealers lead the way despite downward trend

Only 116 head were yarded last Wednesday for the fat sale at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange and this drop in numbers was a trend that was seen across the state.
Competition in the better pens was still firm to strong and some very good vealers came forward again.
Heifers made to 314.2 cents, 18 steers made to 282.2 cents, and 100 veal made to 340 cents, up 45 cents.
The bull sale on Thursday was up a bit with 21 penned.
The top for the week was 274.2 cents, firm, on last week and the bull average was up 13 cents to 234.6 cents, with some good bodied bulls on offer.
Also penned were 156 cows and although the top was at 231.2 cents, the same as the previous week, the cow average was back five cents to 179.4 cents as quality was improved on recent sales.
The draw for 4 and 5 October is: 1 Gibbon, 2 SEJ, 3 Landmark, 4 Scotts, 5 Elders.
