Rural services for locals by a local

With family ties to the agriculture and horticulture industry in the region for 100 years, JB Rural Services has been built from the ground up.

Providing a range of operations to Baw Baw, Casey and Cardinia Shires, services include hay and silage sale, mowing, conditioning, raking, baling, wrapping, slashing, speed discing, rural fencing, power harrowing and air seeding, spraying and fertiliser spreading.

Ten years ago, JB Rural Services’ owner Jordan Burgess began the Tooradin-based business borrowing his father’s Massey Ferguson 168 tractor and New Holland 69 baler, and credits his loyal customers with helping him to grow his business.

Starting out working in the heat and the dust, Jordan has built a successful business and customer base in the decade of operation.

“It definitely gives you a great appreciation for having worked my way up to owning a fleet of Fendt tractors and machinery,” Jordan says.

“It also makes the long days in the seat much more enjoyable and quicker to get to the next job.”

Now a father himself, Jordan can look back on his work with pride and satisfaction, driving him to create a legacy for his two young sons, Thomas and David, and family.

“Having lived on the land for nearly all my life, I understand the value and personal satisfaction that comes from a productive day’s work,” says Jordan.

“Be it either watching a crop grow through to harvesting, pointing out a straight new fence I had built to my wife as we drive somewhere, to working long hours getting hay bailed before the next storm – farming is part of my identity and character.”

Pasture renovation

After a couple of wet winters and the spring of last year a lot of paddocks are showing the effects. Now is the perfect time to thicken up that paddock that’s not performing to its full potential. Perhaps there’s a paddock that’s plugged and near impossible to walk across? With the BOM’s prediction of us headed for another El Niño pattern, now is the time to be producing more on farm feed.

With the right equipment and knowledge of the local area Jordan will have a solution for you. We offer all aspects of pasture renovation:

* Multi discing.

* Ripping.

* Power harrowing with air seeder.

* Direct disc seeding.

* Muck and fertiliser spreading.

* Boom spraying.

* 3t excavator.

JB Rural Services is located in Tooradin and provides services to the surrounding Baw Baw, Casey and Cardinia Shires. For more information, email jbruralservices@gmail.com or phone 0429 906 182.
